It will depend on the instrument.

For brass, it typically involves a deep clean, removal of minor dents, replacement of springs, corks, felts as necessary, checking alignment of slides and valves.

For woodwind, it typically involves completely stripping the instrument. Cleaning, pad levelling, regulation and balancing, replacement of worn touch corks and felts, and lubrication of keywork.

Yes and no!

I typically have a waiting list of around 6 weeks for servicing, however I set aside some time every week for emergency repairs. So if you have a big gig coming up, get in touch, I will do what I can to get you playing.

Drop offs by appointment only, during the day or early evening.

There is ample parking, and I am right on a bus route between Consett and Newcastle (number 47 and number 10).

It's a good idea to get your instrument repaired every couple of years, or more frequently if you are a professional.

However, a saxophone service is a very involved job, and you may not need a full service. I offer a health check option which will get your instrument into good playing order, and diagnose anything more serious. See pricelist for more details.
